REACH™ is a comprehensive service for UECU members-owners that provides analysis of your credit score and practical advice on how to improve it at no additional cost to you.* While there is no “quick fix” to improve a credit score, we can help you adopt new financial habits that can help steadily raise it over time. What is a credit score?
A credit score is a number each consumer is assigned by credit reporting agencies, ranging from around 300 to around 850. This score helps financial institutions determine how much of a credit risk you are. It is based on your credit history in five areas:

  1. Payment history (whether you’re a “fast” or “slow” payer)
  2. Amounts owed (total of credit cards, loans and other debt)
  3. Length of credit history (how long you have had credit)
  4. Accumulation of new credit (how much new credit you are taking on)
  5. Mix of credit (what percentage are credit cards, installment loans, auto loans, etc.)

What does my credit score affect?
Your credit score affects virtually every area of your finances. When you borrow money, your credit score is a factor for decision making on the part of the lender. The better the score (the higher it is), the more likely you are to get loans at lower rates, credit cards at better terms, or higher credit limits because you are considered a lower credit risk.

How can I improve my credit score?
To improve your credit score, you may need to pay bills in a more timely manner, pay down outstanding debt, reduce the number of high-balance credit cards you have, or stop applying for new credit altogether for a period of time. UECU understands that each member’s situation is different, and each person needs different advice to improve their financial picture.

How does REACH™ work?
It all begins with a consultation with one of our helpful Financial Service Consultants who provide a one-on-one credit report analysis and personalized, practical advice on how to improve it.

* You have the right to a free credit report from AnnualCreditReport.com or 877-322-8228, the only authorized source under federal law.
